12 FAVORITE SKITS FROM THE PILOT EPISODE OF SNL (PART 2)
It's Saturday Night and now it's time for part 2!
NUMBER 9
THE LAND OF GORCH (THE MUPPETS)

Not to long ago, I did a list of my "Top 9 Favorites Skits From The Pilot Episodes Of The Muppet Show". I pointed out that the Muppets were originally intended for adults which had a few sketches that proved my fact, well who would think that the Muppets would be for adults on SNL as well. The skit is about an alien swampy wasteland ruled by the oafish King Ploobis and he has a right hand man named Scred, an ugly Queen, a beautiful servant named Vazh and a God called the Mighty Favog. While the skit wasn't all that funny, it still had fun characters, adult humor that I couldn't believe that the Muppets did, a creative idea and great Muppetry. I understand that there's a whole series of these skits in the first season, so who knows maybe they'll be funnier. I guess the main appreciation (Aside from everything I said) goes to the fact that the adult Muppets got to be in the first episode of the show because when you have the Muppets as part of your cast, there's no going wrong.
NUMBER 8
ALBERT BROOKS'S SHORT FILM "THE IMPOSSIBLE TRUTH"

Albert Brooks is a comic legend with his humor, comedic acting, clever writing and even directing a few films. In this skit, he writes and Directs a mockumentary film that spoofs Newsreels called "The Impossible Truth". With Albert behind the camera and interviewing people off screen we see things that are very outrageous. I won't point them all out but the ones that make me laugh the hardest is the temporally Cab Driver and a guy legally dating a 7 year old girl (It's sick but Brooks knows how to make that sick scenario funny). There are other many others in the skit but I prefer not to give them away. Much like putting the Muppets in the first episode of the show, I'm pleased they put a short film directed by Albert Brooks on the show as well.
NUMBER 7
VICTIMS OF SHARK BITES

I'm not going to go into to much detail about this skit but all I'm going to say is, John Belushi has a hidden secret behind his shark wounds.
NUMBER 6
HOME SECURITIES
(NO IMAGE AVAILABLE)
This skit stars John Belushi and Gilda Radner as a couple living at home when all of a sudden two security agents played Dan Akyrod and Garrett Morris burst in, start simulating a break in and talk the two into buying into their program of security filled with strange and unusual methods. Seeing Belushi and Radner as a couple is cute and funny at the same time and Akyrod and Morris make a great comedy team as these two unpredictable security agents. On to of it, I love every twist it throws at me epically when listening to their crazy dialogue. There's also a really clever twist to this duo at the end that I won't spoil for you. The question is do these two guys really want to help this couple or are they legitimate and professional robbers? Well, you be the judge!

ADVENTURE TIME: FIRST TWO EPISODES
"What time is it?"
REVIEW TIME!
...one of my all time favorite shows on Cartoon Network. It's creative, it's funny, it's cute, it's adventurous, it's just a real good kids show as well as appealing to the older crowd. I think now would be a good time to review the first two episodes since the shows been on for awhile. So ON WITH THE REVIEW...
THE INTRO
The intro is only 25 seconds long but man does it throw a lot at you. In the first 12 seconds we quickly pass by the characters and their land before we see our two main characters Finn and Jake. Just watching the first 12 seconds is hard to catch every glimpse of everything being thrown at you, you'll have to freeze frame your way through to catch everything. The last couple of seconds is the shows theme song as we see our two heroes have fun. The song is very short but it's very memorable, very catchy and very cute and to have something this short to be stuck in my head all day is amazing. Overall, it's a really great intro and really takes you into the shows world. On a final note, the shows closing credits is really cute and settling as well.
The show centers around the adventures of a young human boy named Finn and his brother who's a magical Dog named Jake and the two go on adventures in the land of "Ooo". Princess Bubblegum who rules the Candy Kingdom (Princess, shouldn't she be called Queen? Oh well, it's a common mistake in almost every story where the Princess is the ruler.) makes a potion to bring the dead back to life, however, the potion is incomplete and it only zombiefies the dead. Princess Bubblegum invites all the citizens of the Candy Kingdom to her Castle to keep them safe but instead of telling them what's going on, she uses a slumber party as a rouse so the citizens won't be scared and blow up as a result. It is up to Finn to keep the secret and stop all the zombies but Jake knows that Finn is hiding something. Yes it's a horror comedy, yes I should review it for horror month but the show has so many surreal things happening, as well as having plenty of supernatural horror elements that if I review every episode that has a horror or monster reference I'd probably reviewing half of the Season. It's a surreal show where anything can happen, so lets treat it for what the show is.
Our hero Finn is a really fun character. He's brave, cool and heroic but he can be a complete goofball with so many goofy qualities that you just have to love him for being both cool and funny. Jake the magic Dog has the same combination that Finn has and being voiced by the same guy who voiced Bender in "Futurama" only increases the coolness and goofiness to the character. Princess Bubblegum is the straight and serious character but don't worry she does have her funny moments. I should also add that I'm glad that the writers made her an intelligent Princess then just the usual Princess cliche we usually get. The Candy people and Jake's love interest Lady Rainicorn are also really fun characters as well as being really creative. The episode not only parodies some horror cliches and horror film genres but it also has great original material, never runs out of plot, the humor never ever stops, it's quotable, has some adult humor in it (They say "Freakin" at one point, that's the mild version of the F Bomb for kids) and on top of it, it's very very creative. To me, this show is the "Yellow Submarine" of our generation and this first episode really proves it!
RATING 5/5
Jake accidentally gets bitten by Lumpy Space Princess and now Finn, Jake and Lumpy Space Princess must travel to Lumpy Space to find a cure for Jake before he becomes a Lumpy Space creature. Finn and Jake are just as fun as they are in the first episode and their friendship for each other really shows more in this episode then the previous one. Lumpy Space Princess is one of thee funniest cartoon characters I have ever seen. She's like a mix between the ghost Fatso from "Casper" and Grimace from "McDonald's" as if they were covered with lumps. On top of it, she is obviously voiced by a guy which makes this character ten times funnier while already having a funny design and a humorous personality. The land where these Lumpy Space creatures live is very creative and very mind blowingly surreal. The humor is not only as good as the first episode but there's so much heavy adult humor and mild language in this episode that it's considered to be one of the all time crudest episodes from the show. Another great episode only this one is a dozen times funnier.
RATING 5/5
These two episodes are both really really great and this show isn't just creative and original but it brings the fun and enjoyment of being both a kid and a adult with it's clever and funny writing, cute but hilarious characters and creative but yet surreal setting.

12 FAVORITE SKITS FROM THE PILOT EPISODE OF SNL (PART 1)
This show is without a doubt my all time favorite skit show. It's funny, it's memorable, the casting is great, the guests are unforgettable, the characters are iconic, the jokes still make us laugh, it'll never die or be forgotten. From every complication DVD of SNL and season DVD I will be picking my favorite skits. So let's start with the shows pilot episode and pick my favorite skits from there. Here are...
MY TOP 12 FAVORITE SKITS FROM THE PILOT EPISODE OF SNL
NUMBER 12
BEE HOSPITAL

NUMBER 12
BEE HOSPITAL
This was the start of the funny reacquiring skit where the actors would dress up as Bees and make Bee jokes and puns. This one is just about the male Bees receiving a different type of a baby Bee which is pretty clever. On top of it, it's in the style of a dramatic show series which turns this comedy into a drama but it's so silly that you just can't take it seriously. It's a great start to this reacquiring skit just wish it were longer. The skit didn't do so well when it came out, in fact it's still held as the weakest Bee Skit from the show but personally I enjoyed it ok, it's not great or as clever as I build it up to be, but it's short, sweet, simple, goes to the joke and starts a whole mess of Bee sketches.
NUMBER 11
THE WOLVERINES
This is the first skit to ever be put on the show and it stars John Belushi and Michael O'Donoghue. John Belushi plays a European immigrant that's learning English from a professor played by Michael O'Donoghue. John Belushi is hysterical with the accent and Michael O'Donoghue is great as the professor teaching him English. The best part in this short skit is Michael has a heart attack and collapses and John (thinking it's part of the lesson) pretends to collapse with him. After the skit Chevy Chase walks in saying the famous intro "Live from New York it's Saturday Night"! Three of the best SNL cast members in the starting skit to the show with funny acting and a hilarious pay off is all you need to start the show.
NUMBER 10
NEW DAD

Picture having a loving father but then if something should happen to him, he gets replaced by another loving father who's there to not only take care but to help financially. Personally as a young adult going through divorcee with his parents, I find this really funny because it makes me wonder if life could be easy as that, just minus a guy trying to be father to me. Dan Akyrod and Chevy Chase are funny as these two father and what Chase does at the end is cruel but you just have to laugh it. I also laughed at how they get rid of father number 1. On top of it, this was the start of the commercial skits and boy did it start on the right foot. I should mention that we won't be seeing other commercial sketches on the list, not because they're not funny but we're just looking at my favorites.
That's all for now, tune in next week for part 2
